Britney Spears Hosts Private Event To Benefit New Orleans

Kim Kardashian, Hilary Duff and other celebs attended the Southern-style dinner in support of the St. Bernard Project.

BEVERLY HILLS, California — When Britney Spears supports a charity, Hollywood comes calling. On Wednesday night, the femme fatale and her family hosted a private event in Beverly Hills that was attended by Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, Kellan Lutz, Hilary Duff and others — all in support of the St. Bernard Project. The Louisiana-based nonprofit aims to rebuild homes of those affected by Hurricane Katrina, as well as helping rebuild their lives.

Just a few days before the event, Brit called out to her devoted fanbase via Twitter to support the cause. "Text BRITNEY to UNITED (864833) to donate $10 to the St. Bernard Charity, which is dedicated to rebuilding homes after Katrina," she tweeted.

Once she arrived at the event, all eyes were on Spears as she graced the red carpet in a form-fitting, lime-green cocktail dress, along with a ring and earrings from the event's title sponsor, Geraldo Jewelry. She looked vibrant, posing for photogs, who snapped away in a frenzy.

Hilary Duff, standing just a few feet down from Britney, couldn't help but take in the action.

"Gosh, I'm such a huge Britney Spears fan, I'm kinda freaking out that she's right over there," Duff told MTV News. "I love the whole 'Toxic' thing, I really like 'Womanizer' — she's just talented all around and I'm a huge fan, excited to be here. And she keeps it going, you know, like all of her new songs are just as good as the last, and I'm impressed by her career.

"I've actually met her a few times before and she's really sweet, and I'm sure we're gonna be talking about food more than anything tonight," Duff continued.

Once inside, Britney wasn't the only Spears spreading Southern hospitality: Her dad, Jamie, was manning the kitchen. Guests were treated to a Southern-style sit-down dinner with all the fixin's. Of course, it wouldn't have been a proper Southern meal without some sweet tea, and guests sipped on the pop princess' special recipe of lemon and peach tea.

Britney serves as an ambassador of the St. Bernard Project, whose volunteers number around 32,000. Together, they've rebuilt homes in the New Orleans area for 350 families and counting.

'Hangover Part II' Stars Talk Bradley Cooper's Head-Shaving Skills

'I did such a good job shaving his head they had to mess it up more,' actor tells MTV News of Zach Galifianakis' new look.
By Kara Warner

Bradley Cooper
Photo: MTV News

Those crazy boys of summer are back. We're talking, of course, about Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms, stars of the highly anticipated "Hangover Part II." At the film's NYC premiere earlier this week, the guys told us about the "chaos" of their pre-release press blitz, and now, MTV News takes you inside the chaos of filming the "Hangover" sequel.

When talking about how the photo montages at the ends of both films were compiled, Cooper and Galifianakis ended up in a back-and-forth about Cooper's head-shaving skills.

"It runs a similar course as the filming of the movie," Cooper said when asked about when the photos for the montages were taken. "We would allocate time in the shooting day to do stills throughout the movie, so at the end, you have all the stills, but it's not like we have two days and we shoot all the stills; it's throughout the whole film."

With regard to Galifianakis' shaved head, which occurs during a scene in the film, we wanted to know if the actual clipping was performed by Cooper.

"Yeah," Cooper said. "I did a nice job."

"I mean, it's pretty easy," Galifianakis pointed out.

"It's not that easy," Cooper protested. "Your ears are very tight to your face."

"Bradley, everybody has a template. I mean, look at that picture," Galifianakis said, pointing to the film's promo poster, which features a photo of Galifianakis with a perfectly buzzed coif. "What I'm saying is, it's so easy to shave someone's head."

"I'm telling you, I did such a good job shaving his head they had to mess it up more, right? Tell them," Cooper insisted. "Tell them, Zach."

"Yes. That's true," Galifianakis said, relenting. "He did such a great job they had to mess up my hair more."

"Thank you," Cooper said, sounding pleased to receive the recognition.

Check out everything we've got on "The Hangover Part II."

Britney Spears Says Femme Fatale Tour Will Be 'Spectacular'

Singer also hopes her choreographers create the 'most outrageous things.'
By James Dinh

Britney Spears is known for delivering an over-the-top stage show, and she promises that her forthcoming Femme Fatale Tour alongside Nicki Minaj will be no different.

In a new video interview posted on her website, the pop princess opens up about her 26-date summer venture, which is set to kick off June 16 in Sacramento and make its way across North America, before concluding August 13 in Toronto.

"The Femme Fatale Tour will hopefully just be outrageously spectacular," Spears said when asked about the trek. "I'm just hoping that the choreographers will come up with just the most outrageous things, and I'm really excited."

While it's been just over a month since the release of Femme Fatale, Brit gushed about the outing, saying, "This is one of the most excited I've been about a project in a really long time, so I can't wait."

While a set list has yet to surface, it would make sense that some of Spears' personal favorite Femme Fatale cuts will be performed throughout her concert, which she revealed as "He About to Lose Me," "Criminal" and "Till the World Ends."

Fans caught an early glimpse at the forthcoming tour last week when video footage of the pop star rehearsing the Bloodshy & Avant-produced "How I Roll" surfaced online. Wearing a baby-blue sports bra and sweatpants, a smiling Spears showed off some playful dance moves surrounded by a group of dancers.

Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, told MTV News back in March that the tour is expected to have a postapocalyptic theme in tune with her latest single, "Till the World Ends." "This is exactly the direction we're moving in," he said. " 'Till the World Ends' keeps becoming a theme for us. ... The way we come up with a concept for a show like this is we sit with Britney, she talks to us about what she's interested in and what excites her."

Have you purchased tickets to Spears' tour yet? Let us know in the comments!

Selena Gomez, Kat Graham Reveal Fave Britney Spears Tunes

Victoria Justice, Christina Milian and more pick a range of Brit classics like 'Slave 4 U' and new-school bangers like 'Till the World Ends.'

On Wednesday night in Los Angeles, Britney Spears' supporters gathered to help the star raise funds for the St. Bernard Project. The Louisiana-based nonprofit helps those affected by Hurricane Katrina to rebuild their homes and their lives. And while much of the talk focused on the good the charity does, MTV News also asked the celeb guests which of Spears' songs would make the final cut on their playlists.

Britney fanatic Selena Gomez said, "Oh goodness! 'Slave 4 U,' that will always be, 'cause that was when it was like, 'Oh, she's not a girl anymore, she's a woman.' The controversy, I loved it!"

Christina Milian preferred one of Brit's more heartfelt songs. " 'Everytime,' it's emotional, and she's beautiful," Milian told us on the event's red carpet, where we saw a number of stars, including Kim Kardashian and Kellan Lutz. "She sang it great."

Spears' "Crossroads" co-star Taryn Manning knew Spears way back when, but her favorite song is a more contemporary Britney tune. " 'Till the World Ends' is incredible," she dished. "I think it's seriously one of her best songs, probably the reason why she went platinum like that."

Sabi, Spears' "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" collaborator, who's set to hit up some Femme Fatale Tour shows this summer, said, "Really, my favorite song had to be 'Toxic' or Slave 4 U. It's between those two. I just think those two are like so sexy, badass songs."

Hilary Duff found it hard to narrow it down. "I like everything," she said. "I liked the whole 'Toxic' thing. I really liked 'Womanizer'."

When Victoria Justice listens to Spears, she likes to kick it old school. "I'm a really big fan of her older stuff," she told us, "So, like, 'Overprotected' and 'Lucky'."

"Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham enjoys both old and new Britney Spears. "I like 'Hold It Against Me,' I must say. I'm just kind of in with the times right now," she said. "But '... Baby One More Time' is always a classic."

What's your all-time favorite Britney song? Let us know in the comments!

'Hangover Part II' Stars Promise 'A Lot More Comedy' In Sequel

'It was just utter excitement to play these characters again,' Bradley Cooper tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

Given the incredible box-office success of 2009's mega-hit comedy "The Hangover," it seemed as though a future installment of the outlandish antics of "Wolf Pack" members Alan, Stu and Phil would be inevitable. Which brings us to "The Hangover Part II," which is opening in theaters this weekend.

MTV News caught up with the men behind the magic recently, actors Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, who not only explained Cooper's head-shaving skills, but also revealed that the main castmembers were originally hesitant to venture into sequel territory.

"I think it was more excitement once we got the second script, which was really wonderful — actually stronger than the first one," Cooper said of getting the gang back together again. "It was just utter excitement to play these characters again and hopefully deliver a movie where fans will be excited to see what happened. We get to see where Alan lives, we get to see Stu progress to two years, Phil as well, so I think it was just exciting to hopefully provide a lot more comedy for people who liked the first one."

Helms has also said that there was some hesitancy to try and make lightning strike twice in a second film.

"We had no idea that 'The Hangover' would do what it did, so we were all kind of blown away," Helms told us at a New York screening of the film. "But then very quickly a conversation for a sequel started, and we were all kind of like, 'I don't know.' And then Todd showed us the script, and it was amazing, so we were like, 'Yeah, let's do that.' "

Regarding what audiences can expect from "Hangover Part II," Helms said to expect a bit more of the same.

"[It's] disturbing, horrifying, unnerving," he said. "Oh, and also hilarious. I forgot that ... Lots of craziness happened on set, and you'll see all of that in the movie."

Check out everything we've got on "The Hangover Part II."

Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Suit Vs. AEG Can Proceed, Judge Rules

Katherine Jackson and family are pursuing a claim against concert promoter.
By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson

When he was alive, Michael Jackson was forever embroiled in a series of complex and expensive-sounding lawsuits. But even in death, the late King of Pop is the subject of major legal action. None could potentially be bigger than the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the pop icon's mother, Katherine Jackson, against concert promotion giant AEG Live.

Reuters reported that a Los Angeles judge ruled on Wednesday that the civil lawsuit can go forward. It will proceed in parallel with the criminal case against Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson's June 2009 death from an overdose of the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol. Murray is the only person charged in Jackson's death and he is currently awaiting trial in that matter.

Katherine Jackson's lawsuit — filed in September on behalf of her and Jackson's three young children — accuses AEG of being responsible for the medical decisions made by Murray, whose salary was paid by the touring company behind Jackson's attempted "This Is It" comeback shows in London. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos denied a motion on Wednesday by AEG to dismiss Katherine Jackson's suit, but warned Jackson's attorneys that they would need to show evidence of "fraud, negligent infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy" in order to win the case.

The judge has already said she doubts they can prove the latter charge, because the suit does not detail any agreement between Murray and AEG to break the law in providing medical care to Jackson.

"If the object was to get him to rehearsals, I don't see that as a wrongful or illegal act," the judge said. A lawyer for AEG told the judge that the company could not have predicted beforehand that Murray's medical decisions would result in Jackson's death. Court papers also show that AEG "did not choose to hire Murray" and had only participated in negotiations to bring him on as an independent contractor. Michael, who had previously been treated by Murray in Las Vegas, was reportedly the one who suggested the cardiologist serve as his personal, on-call physician during the "This Is It" rehearsals and shows.

Katherine Jackson's attorney recently dropped choreographer Kenny Ortega from the lawsuit based on new information they received about his actions. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 22, just six days before Murray is due back in court for his trial. Jackson's father, Joseph, has twice attempted to file a wrongful death suit in the matter, though his is focused on Murray and the Las Vegas pharmacy that supplied the propofol, not AEG Live.

Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, Ne-Yo Have A Few Royal Wedding Gift Ideas

From 'guyliner' to American delicacies like Uncrustables, Kathy Griffin, Mike Posner and more tell us what they'd get Will and Kate.
By Terri Schwartz

What kind of wedding gift do you give the royal couple who has everything?

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is on Friday (April 29), so MTV News reached out to some of our favorite Hollywood celebrities — from Ke$ha to Adam Lambert. Fortunately, they had some solid ideas!

"I haven't met them, so it would be kind of awkward," the "Tik Tok" singer admitted to MTV News. "I might paint them something. Maybe I'll paint them a guitar."

Like Ke$ha, other celebs had suggestions that were from the heart, even if they weren't the most practical.

"I will go out on a limb and say these two individuals maybe haven't had Uncrustables before in their life. I would get them a strawberry Uncrustable," Mike Posner said about the pastry.

David Cook followed up on the all-American food idea. "I feel like they have everything except maybe they probably don't have an Applebee's gift card. I'll go [with an] Applebee's gift card," the "American Idol" alum said.

Other stars said they'd gift the British prince and soon-to-be-princess with an item they were personally best known for.

"I'd probably buy William some eyeliner," Lambert said. "He could do that, he could rock that look. I think."

Ne-Yo was more empathetic, saying he would give gifts that could help shield them from photographers and blend in with everyday people. "Three years' supply of sunglasses. Yeah, put them on. A bunch of baseball caps, throw those on, and try to move around like regular people," the singer said. "I can't imagine what it would be like having to live under that big of a magnifying glass your whole life ... and fake mustaches, that's what I'd give them."

Brooke Burke went the more traditional route, saying she would get Will and Kate a journal to record the big event. "I would ask them to really take the time to write down thoughts and phrases and wishes," Burke said. "And not really to lose sight of how they feel about each other now and to really hold on to that feeling."

Kathy Griffin had good intentions but the comedian couldn't resist a puke joke.

"If I had to get the royal couple a gift, I would get them the Royal Couple Vomit Bag, which someone sent me a photo of," Griffin told us. "So you can actually buy vomit bags with their image on it, and I think that that is an honor and I hope that they see it as such."

What would you give to William and Kate? Share your ideas in the comments section!

MTV Movie Awards Mania Kicks Off With Sneak Peek Week

Stars of 'Fright Night,' 'The Help' and more stop by next week for live interviews and exclusive clips.
By Eric Ditzian

Photo: DreamWorks

Each year, we jam 12 months' worth of movie magic into just one day for the MTV Movie Awards. This time around, there's simply too much Golden Popcorn goodness to contain, so we're opening up things with a full five days of cinematic treats that we call MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week.

Starting on Monday, May 30, and running through Friday, June 3, we'll be bringing you exclusive looks at some of this summer's hottest films, including "Fright Night," "Horrible Bosses" and more. Each night at 11 p.m. ET, we'll welcome a film's cast onto MTV to present an exclusive clip. Then you can continue the live conversation with the stars online, as our own Josh Horowitz hosts an extended chat with the talent. As always, you'll have the chance to ask the stars your own questions; just tweet at @MTVNews using the hashtag #SPW.

It's all building up to the Movie Awards themselves, which will be hosted by Jason Sudeikis and air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

On Monday, we'll be sitting down with "Fright Night" star Christopher Mintz-Plasse and director Craig Gillespie for an early glimpse at this horror remake. Mintz-Plasse and Anton Yelchin play high school seniors who get pulled into their neighbor's creepy world, eventually finding out that the stranger (Colin Farrell) is a vampire preying on the town.

The next night, the stars and director of "The Art of Getting By," a Sundance fave earlier this year, will be stopping by. Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano, Elizabeth Reaser and director Gavin Wiesen will introduce a clip, then stick around to discuss their indie about a lonely student (Freddie Highmore) and the unlikely friendship he strikes up with Roberts' charismatic and complicated teen girl.

Wednesday brings us what's sure to be one of the funniest comedies of the summer. "Horrible Bosses" director Seth Gordon will present an exclusive clip before diving into a chat about how Jason Bateman and his onscreen cohorts hatch a plan to kill their nasty workplace superiors.

Then on Thursday, Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard will jump into the action in support of "The Help." Based on the #1 New York Times best-seller, the film stars Stone as an unlikely civil-rights activist in '60s-era Mississippi.

Finally on Friday, the folks behind action-comedy "30 Minutes or Less" will bring Sneak Peek Week to a close. Stars Aziz Ansari, Michael Peña and director Ruben Fleischer will be on hand for the festivities, and stars Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride will deliver a special message for fans. The flick follows Eisenberg's pizza delivery boy, who's kidnapped and forced to rob a small-town bank.

After this week-long warm-up, the main event kicks off on Sunday, June 5. At this year's Movie Awards, "Eclipse" (eight nominations) will be facing off against "Inception" (seven noms) and "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1" (six noms). Voting in all the categories, from Best Kiss to Best Fight to Best Scared-as-S**t Performance and beyond, is currently under way over at MovieAwards.MTV.com. Voting is set to close on June 4. But voting for Best Movie will stay open through the show itself, meaning you have the chance to affect the night's biggest winner up until the very last minute.

The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET.

Britney Spears Appears On Harper's Bazaar Cover

'I'm like everybody else,' singer says in the magazine.
By Jocelyn Vena

She appeared pregnant and nude on the cover back in 2006, but now Britney Spears just looks happy and healthy in a low-cut white dress on the cover of Harper's Bazaar. In the latest issue of the magazine, now being previewed online, the singer opens up about her life.

"I'm pretty normal, you know? Like I said, the type of day I love is just like everybody else's. I'm like everybody else," she says in the issue. When asked about her music videos, she recalls fondness for a clip from 2001. " 'Overprotected.' I just think it says a lot. It was directed so well, it was really colorful and the dancing was amazing," she says of the splashy clip.

Spears seems content with the way fans have been reacting to her Femme Fatale album, which dropped in March. "I've worked so hard on this album, so it's really refreshing," she said. "I feel like I'm drinking a tall glass of homemade sweet tea on a really hot, beautiful day."

Spears also talked about getting in shape for her highly anticipated summer tour. "I love to dance, so it's very exciting," she said. "The tour rehearsals have been going really well. I think it will be my best show yet."

In addition to the cover shot, another image from the magazine has hit the Web. It features Spears smiling in front of a wall painted with graffiti wearing a flowing, black star-print dress.

Not only has Spears been readying her summer tour, she has also been preparing to shoot her next music video, for the song "I Wanna Go." Spears will be working with Chris Marrs Piliero (Ke$ha, the Black Eyed Peas) on the clip, which is filming later this month in Los Angeles. The track is the third single off her album, following "Hold It Against Me" and "Till the World Ends."

While she's always moving forward to the next project, Spears did take the time to reflect on one very important onstage kiss with Madonna at the VMAs nearly eight years ago. "I actually saw her a couple of weeks ago at a party," Britney recalled. "I guess she's really taught me to stay true to myself. That seems like a simple thing to say, but she taught me through action, not just by saying it. There are so many people around you that have opinions, but you just have to listen to your instincts."

Did 'American Idol' Judges Spark A Rush For Celeb TV Panels?

Back when Paula Abdul signed on to be a judge on the first season of "American Idol," some saw it as a last-ditch effort by a faded pop star to kick-start a stalled career. And though the long-promised comeback album from Abdul never materialized and her spin-off dancing show, this year's "Live to Dance," was canceled after one season, it's beginning to look like Paula was on to something.

For a while, pop stars expanded their "brand" by launching clothing lines, vanity record labels and hawking shoes. Now that the stigma of reality TV has clearly lifted, though, is joining the panel of a singing competition the new celebrity perfume?

Wednesday night's hit finale of "Idol," in which Scotty McCreery was crowned champ and judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler got as much screen time as some of the season's contestants, was definitive proof that reality shows can be a career resuscitator.

It used to be unusual to see a contemporary star — or even a legendary name whose career was still somewhat viable — sign on for one of these shows. In 2007, former pop chart staple Jewel became the host of "Nashville Star" at a time when her music career was at a low ebb. And way back in 1998, late TLC member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was the exception to the rule when she hosted the MTV talent series "The Cut" when TLC was still one of the biggest bands on the planet.

But ever since Tyler and Lopez joined the cast of "Idol" this year and saw an immediate boost to their bottom line in the form of major iTunes sales for Aerosmith's back catalog and the biggest hit in years for J.Lo, the floodgates have opened.

"Never in a million years did I think Steven would do something like this," said Jeff Rabhan, the chairman of the Recorded Music Department at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and longtime artist manager for artists ranging from Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg to Lopez and Linkin Park.

Rabhan said the addition of Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera to NBC's hit singing competition "The Voice" is further proof that the stigma is gone and artists and their managers are realizing the potential boost from appearing in prime-time every week on a major network.

"The Cee Lo quotient is a wild card," Rabhan said just a few weeks ago of the "Forget You" singer, whose profane hit has gained ubiquity and put up strong single sales, while his album, The Lady Killer, has put up modest numbers. "I do think for a lot of people it's the 'mom quotient.' A lot of people still don't know who he is and for Cee Lo, I get it. For some of the others, though, I can't help but feel like it's a plateau move."

That was then, but now, with "The Voice" a ratings hit and all of America charmed by Green's infectious smile and musical chops, clearly the gamble has paid off.

"Celebrities are flocking to singing reality shows," said Shirley Halperin, music editor of The Hollywood Reporter. "Everybody wants to be on one. I don't think it's the merit of the show — it's the merit of the numbers. People want the 20 million viewers and there's no other way to do it on a mass level than on television. Television is the great platform for music."

Considering the huge amount of screen time Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine got on "Idol" this season and early word that "X Factor" judge and former Island/ Def Jam chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid's harsh judgments have made Simon Cowell look like a pussycat, Halperin said there may also be a gold in them hills for music execs as well. "Jimmy ... could have a really nice act three or act two being a mentor and TV personality," she said. "These music business guys, they know their business and they're not messing around. I have a feeling there might be a demand for executives who are willing to really tell it like it is."

Although it raised eyebrows at first, Rabhan said the "Idol" gig made sense for Tyler, who is in the twilight of his rock career. "In a lot of ways, he's protected. If the show dies, Tyler can say it was dying already without him. If it does great, it's a win for him." Of course, we now know that ratings were up, Tyler became America's favorite potty-mouthed wacky uncle and he found a huge platform to hawk his debut solo single and memoir and it's likely he'll be back for another go next year.

For Aguilera, Rabhan said the calculus was probably a bit different. "She's always been a bit untouchable and the public never got to know her," he said of the notoriously private singer, who has hit a rough patch lately. "And she was able to sustain some of the speed bumps in her career up until now. But I'm sure [her handlers saw] this is an opportunity to rebuild her tarnished public image."

That rebuilding appears to have already begun, with a toned-down Aguilera coming off as the sexy, flirty chanteuse who's always rooting for the underdog on the show and coming off as much more approachable.

Like Rabhan, Stuart Levine, assistant managing editor for features at Variety, said that for an artist like Cee Lo, "The Voice" offers mainstream exposure to a demo that may not be familiar with his music. "For someone like Christina, after all her latest antics, I'm sure she sees the success of 'Idol' and what it did for people like Randy, Paula and Simon Cowell, and the praise that J.Lo and Tyler are getting and she doesn't see much of a downside," he said. "A lot of the stink of bad reality shows is not around anymore. And whether they're good or bad, it hasn't hurt anyone when they did one of these on a broadcast network."

The trend is catching on all over, from "CMT's Next Superstar," which counts guest judges such as Trace Adkins and Colbie Caillat, to the about-to-launch on Bravo "Platinum Hit," a songwriter-search show starring Jewel and former "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi. The Bravo series will also feature guest-judging from Leona Lewis, Taio Cruz, Jermaine Dupri, Natasha Bedingfield and Ryan Tedder.

While superstars often try to avoid looking like regular people by showing off their lavish lifestyles, when they stumble, Rabhan said the first instinct is to try and look human and what better way to do that than to appear on a prime-time show and offer advice to potential future stars?

All of which begs the question of why the ultimate steward of reality-show singing competitions, Cowell, seemed to have missed the writing on the wall while putting together his "X Factor" panel. Recycling Abdul, adding the respected, but not well-known by the public Reid and British girl group star Cheryl Cole seemed like an odd move in light of the emerging trend.

The dice roll already appears to be not paying off. As "Idol" was commanding all the media space oxygen on Wednesday night, word leaked that Cole was being replaced on the panel by former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who was originally tapped to be the "Factor" co-host. The move reportedly came because Cole did not mesh well with the rest of the panel (or, according to some reports, because her British accent was too strong) and it seemed like a correction inspired in part, at least, by the writing on the wall.

Considering the months of headlines surrounding Cowell's departure from "Idol," as well as the applause for Tyler and Lopez on the show, Levine said, publicity-wise, it's hard to say no to the opportunity if you want to get you name (back) out there.

"If networks want the shows to be hits, they need big names, so you can't just throw someone out there with a so-so career," he said of the move to tap marquee names for shows like "The Voice." "Whether the networks accept it or not, people tune in to these shows to hear the judges. If you want big ratings, you need big names."

¿Y a ti? ¿Qué te parece todo esto?

Ever since they were first announced, the O Music Awards have proudly proclaimed themselves the untraditional alternative to the staid world of red carpets, acceptance speeches and celebrity glad-handing.

And for further proof of that point, consider the following: Though the inaugural O Music Awards won't premiere until April 28, the first award will be handed out on Monday at 4 p.m. ET ... and it's a big one.

For weeks, fans have been voting for the Most Innovative Music Video through the O Music Awards official site, and on Monday — in a roundtable debate moderated by MTV News' James Montgomery — a winner will be crowned.

The O Music Awards Debate for the Most Innovative Music Video, presented by FUZE®, will stream live on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com. Joining Montgomery around the table will be acclaimed video director Wayne Isham, Mashable's Brenna Ehrlich and some super-secret celebrity guests.

The Black Eyed Peas, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and more will also take part in the discussion about just what makes a video truly innovative, and the folks who are nominated for the award — a list that includes Arcade Fire, Robyn, OK Go and Andy Grammer — will also Skype in to make the case for why their video deserves to be named Most Innovative.

On Monday morning, the original list of 10 nominees will be whittled down to the top five vote-getters, and then, during the debate, our roundtable and the Internet audience will cut that list down to the final three. At the very end, we'll announce the winner of the very first O Music Award for Most Innovative Video.

The inaugural O Music Awards will stream live from Las Vegas at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on OMusicAwards.com. Tune in to see who will reign supreme in categories like Most Viral Dance, Funniest Music Short and NSFW Music Video!
